About

Marianne is a Filipino visual artist born and raised in Surrey, BC. Inspired by the natural world, her curiosity about the links between nature, her heritage, and the human psyche inform her artistry. I convey harmony as our natural state in my art.
Wildlife is no different than human nature, sharing importance of preservation of native species and culture across the complex identities in the Filipino experience. The notion of "otherness" does not exist in my artwork, but rather the traits shared as a collective of beings when stripped from man-made structures.

Amidst an ever-changing world, nature's voice is constant and present with every breath of life.
"I'm fascinated by the symbolism that humans place on organisms. Swans for love, kois for longevity, fruits for prosperity - I like to believe that observing the beauty in our surroundings provides us a portal to observe our shared essence of being."
